I have always been interested in complementary therapies since I was a child and had a friend whose mother was a therapist. I always felt a sense of calm around her and a feeling of being me. I first had reflexology at a conference in my 20's, it felt wonderful, and I was amazed that the reflexologist could tell me something about my eyes by just pressing my feet. I was told I was long-sighted and would need to wear glasses! After that experience I was hooked and after having a family and leaving my career in HR I realized Reflexology was something I wanted to pursue further.
I trained at the Bath Reflexology Centre in 2011 and now have a level 3 Diploma in Reflexology. The course was extremely rigorous, and I had to complete a total of 100 treatments before qualifying. I have slowly built up my practice whilst raising two children and now have a successful home practice in Bradford on Avon.
I am really passionate about Reflexology and the positive feedback I receive from clients reinforces the enjoyment and pleasure I get from helping people.
In 2019 I became an Ambassador for the Association of Reflexologists; and I was selected as one of 8 in the country. My role has been trying to help integrate reflexology more in the NHS. I have run several Hand Reflexology self-help courses for the Well-being College which are based in Bath and run courses for people with Mental health issues. These courses have been really successful and I have received lots of positive feedback.
Reflexology is a fabulous natural alternative therapy. It is a pressure massage on the feet, hands or sometimes the face.
Specific points on the body called reflex points are stimulated and it is believed that these correspond to different parts of the body.
By working these reflex points reflexology aims to bring about a feeling of well-being and optimum health.
Reflexology is supported by several health cash plan providers, including Bupa, Paycare, Medicash and Sovereign - it is worth checking with your provider but I can always supply you with a receipt if you need to claim back your treatment cost.
I have a special interest in treating clients who are experiencing stress and anxiety and finding life a bit harder to manage. I believe that a lot of the ailments which we have are related to the stress we have in our lives. Stress and anxiety can be caused by a variety of things such as lifestyle or change in situation such as divorce, bereavement or house move or change in work.
I have completed a course on Mindful Reflexology and learnt some useful techniques to help people going through depression, stress, and anxiety.
Reflexology has been shown to significantly reduce anxiety with an ‘increased feeling of ease and a reduction in anxiety’.
There are other lifestyle factors which may also help such as mindfulness, exercise, journalling, seeing family and friends and writing gratitude journals.
I run courses on Hand Reflexology for self-help, these can be excellent as part of a wellness package at work or can be introduced to a group of friends in a few sessions. Why not contact me to find out more.
"I have had regular sessions with Hazel and would highly recommend her. I find the sessions complete relaxation and a great stress reliever. I leave the sessions feeling very calm and re-energised. She is a true professional and I am always impressed how she finds the aches and tension in certain parts of my body that I just put up with and not always aware of."
"Hazel is a wonderful reflexologist. Her sessions are so relaxing I go into a kind of stupor within minutes. She is very sensitive and professional, and her treatments are always something to look forward to. I have found them helpful in managing lymphoedema, as well as enjoyable. Would thoroughly recommend it."
"I have had many sessions of Reflexology over the years and can definitely say that Hazel is very skilled and one of the best Therapists I’ve come across. Hazel is very calming and takes care in finding out about any health issues you may have, so that she can concentrate on those specific areas if needs be. I have several health issues that the treatments help me with, including osteoarthritis. I try to go monthly and always look forward to my treatments as I find I feel more energised, sleep far better and the aches and pains are far less."
